A lot has been said about titanium as a metal. It’s very versatile for it’s been used for medical procedures, building aircrafts and making sporting equipment. Despite being lightweight, titanium is an incredibly durable and strong metal which is why in the recent years it has turned into the metal of choice for making jewelry.
Initially, people were not too drawn to titanium jewelry because of its grey color; however, a polishing method attained through oxidation was developed to create a more silver finish for this metal. Also through this method, titanium can come in blue, black, purple, etc. The popular choices remain to be silver-grey and black especially when it comes to rings.
Titanium rings are suitable for people who are not really accustomed to wearing jewelry or those who have sensitive skin. A ring made from titanium is very light…the lightest among all the metals used for rings, that you can just forget that you are even wearing one. Remember to get the right size because you just might not notice when it has already slipped off your finger. Knowing your ring size is very important because titanium rings are difficult to resize, most jewellers would just advise you to buy a new one; after all they’re comparatively cheap. Most people who are allergic to gold and silver choose pure titanium because it’s hypoallergenic. Remember to be specific about the titanium ring that you want to purchase if your skin’s very reactive to certain metals. Some rings are made with titanium alloy and this can cause skin irritation to some. Tell your jeweller that you want your ring to be made with pure titanium.
As for style, rings made from titanium are no longer just simple bands with very little embellishments. This strong material is perfect for embedding precious stones giving them more beauty and character. Sometimes, gold is inlaid to titanium as well to create dimension and higher value to the ring. Anyway, if you’re a practical person who wants unique beauty and durability at an affordable price, a titanium ring is the perfect choice.
